Custom Laid Up Plywood
AWS creates custom laid up plywood based upon the specifications your project requires. We offer many species of veneers laid up on the board of your choice. By utilizing high quality plywood in our plywood press assembly, we can ensure a balanced product. Since all panels are manufactured in-house, we offer quick lead times and no minimums. Chose an array of hardwood, burl, exotic and marine veneers. We offer Veneer Core Plywood (VC), Medium Density Fiberboard(MDF) and Particle Core Plywood (PBC) boards.
Veneer Core Plywood:
VC is constructed by cross layering 3 or more sheets of wood veneer alternating with the grain at 90 degrees. Every layer is joined together by an adhesive, giving it great strength and stability.
Calibrated/Platform:
Perfect for cabinet and furniture manufacturers that require exact tolerances.
Composite Cores:
Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF):
This core is manufactured by mixing fine wood dust and binder, then heat pressing the mixture into panels. The result is a stable, consistent product that is easy to work with. There is less chipping during cross cutting and the surface beneath the veneer is usually blister-free.
Particle Core Plywood (PBC):
This board is made using a courser wood dust than MDF resulting in a lower weight product with less consistency.
Hardwood Plywood Core Types, Thicknesses, and Uses:
Veneer Core:
Well suited for cabinet and casework. A cross layering of veneer sheets produces a strong and stable panel
Calibrated Core/Platform:
Perfect for cabinet and furniture manufacturing that requires exact tolerances. A precision inner ply with a +/- .005″ variation across the sheet.
Composite Cores:
Particleboard (PB) or medium density fibreboard (MDF) for a stable and flat plywood.
Fibre-Ply:
Cabinet manufacturers especially appreciate its excellent machineability and superior screw holding combined with exceptional strength and durability. Veneer and MDF layers between the face and back veneers create a lightweight, rigid and smooth panel.
